Do you ever get done with a difficult project at work, a challenging bag, or a stretch of missing sewjo and you need something to reach for to get you going again? This is the perfect quilt for you! It has all the building blocks to be a perfect palate cleanser it’s super fast, fun to mix and match the precuts from one entire collection, and it’s satisfying when you need the perfect gift for the next day!
I wanted and needed to have a great easy quilt after a long work trip and a stressful push to the QuiltCon submission finish line. I picked one of my favorite patterns that I first saw my good friend Suzanne make called Chris Cross.
I thought the Sparkler rainbow would lend itself wonderfully for the movement of this pattern. Originally found below:
I have made this quilt in several iterations but have had some ideas on how this would be a little bit better to construct. First off I started by starching and pressing the 10″ precut in half across the diagonal. This gave me a great place to line up the corresponding bias strips to make a nice square block to easily trim up.
Cut your middle strip following the great video tutorial above! Then mix and match!
This middle crease was so helpful as you can see here! Press your seams in the direction you feel good about. I’m not a stickler for pressing a certain way, but for this quilt I did press to the dark side.
Then the really fun part of this quilt comes into play, laying out the blocks!
I like to put them all on my design wall and take a photo. It helps to show me if there’s a particular area that needs more variation.
The big reveal!
I haven’t completed finished this quilt but I love how the Sparkler basic looks! The colors are vibrant and it’s so close to a solid, with just a bit of pizazz.
Let me know if this is a quilt you’d love to make below!
