The sewing and quilting community is one of the reasons why I love LOVE love this hobby. The chance to make an awesome free pattern with Fat Quarter Shop came about and it was a great way to re-energize our sewing friendships, and maybe sewjo.
I am participating with my friends Hilary, Marisa, and Carol. Our friendships are all unique and special, and I think you’ll see all of our unique personalities come out in these quilts! Hilary is a bubbling bunch of bright personality who is finally sewing BEHIND a door. Marisa is a moody jewel toned queen who is mastering first grade. Carol is a sassy and friendly crafty encyclopedia, she does it all!
My quilt is eventually going to go to my mother *shhh don’t tell her* and I’m so excited to get to pour love into it for her!
Visit Fat Quarter Shop (affiliate link) and pick up these handy 6″ or 12″ Foundation Paper piecing (FPP) pads to follow along the journey, or even create something special and uniquely yours! There are 4 pads you’ll need – Log Cabin is the first up!
The finished quilt incorporates the Log Cabin Blocks, Economy Blocks, Pineapple Blocks, and the Courthouse Step Blocks. Each of these have simple, easy to use FPP pads. *BONUS* This quilt is mainly PRECUT friendly!
I have shared my fabric pull on Instagram and I went with warm reds, oranges, pinks, and peaches. Using some fabulous Moda Bella and Kona solids, I love the range of color and the muted sunset vibes.
These colors are (in no particular order) are Moda Bella Rose, Betty’s Orange, Popsicle, Strawberry, Pale Pink, Clementine, Raspberry, Brick Red, Coral, and Betty’s Red. I did throw in two Kona Colors- Deep Rose and Creamsicle (for the background). I’m planning to use Sharon Hollands floral Kismet print for the backing, and maybe peak it into the front somewhere…
I hope you’re finding a way to stay connected with your quilty friends and family. If quilting isn’t for you try reading a book together, watching a show at the same time, or ACTUALLY USING YOUR PHONE TO CALL THEM!
Stay Healthy and Safe,
-Tina
